The Rehabilitation Engineering Research Center for Wireless Technologies will be holding a focus group on Wireless Emergency Communications (WEC). The purpose is to explore the best ways to present emergency alerts to people who are Deaf.
VIEW THIS INVITATION IN AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE:
We are seeking individuals who are Deaf and who are fluent in ASL. You will be asked to provide feedback on the accessibility of several different emergency alerting methods.
Your total time commitment will be 2 hours (30 minutes for snacks and conversation, and 90 minutes focus group) not including travel to and from the Shepherd Center. Snacks and refreshments will be provided, as well as ASL interpreters.
For your participation you will receive a small, financial token of appreciation and the satisfaction of knowing you are helping to further advance the creation of accessible emergency alerts. The focus group will take place at the Shepherd Center (2020 Peachtree Road, NW, Atlanta, GA 30309-1465) on Saturday, February 28, 2008. There will be two focus group sessions; the first beginning at 9:30 am, the second at 1:00pm.
If you are interested in participating please call (404-367-1348) or e-mail (john_morris@shepherd.org) John Morris by 5:00 pm on Friday, February 21, 2009. Once your participation is confirmed, he will call or e-mail you prior to the test and provide you with details as to place (directions) and session time.
