Project
Building on the success of and interest in the wireless personal captioning system, the Wireless RERC is adding indoor location tracking capabilities to the system to better suit the needs of people with sensory impairments at three targeted venues. These venues include airports, museums/aquariums, and hospitals.
Approach
The project spans five years. The first two years will be spent gathering information from project partners to define the requirements of the system. Venue-specific prototypes will be built and tested in years 2-4. Testing will include laboratory testing, on-site testing, and user testing. Testing will also include component-specific testing, such as with speech recognition in limited-vocabulary scenarios. Modifications based on feedback will occur in years 4-5. Final prototype testing and demonstration will be held in year 5.
